Welcome to the Mae B Mindful Podcast! I am your host, Hannah Mae, and this is the first episode of our podcast. I'm so excited and glad that you have found your way here. I'm thrilled to create this space for interesting and unique perspectives. We will explore and unravel concepts that, on the surface, may seem simple, but underneath are profound mysteries or topics worth exploring. By shifting our perspective, we can dramatically and vastly change our experiences in life.
Let me tell you a bit about who I am, what I do, and what I identify as. First on the list is being a mother and wife. As a mother of six, I can relate to the challenges of parenthood. It has been one of the most powerful tools in helping me grow, evolve, and shape who I am today. Parenthood pushes us out of our comfort zones and into deeper parts of ourselves, helping us heal, break cycles, and grow. My children are my greatest teachers, and conscious parenting has been a crucial part of my journey.
I have nearly 22 years of continuous and evolving recovery from various addictions and compulsions. Working consistently with others in recovery has helped me show up for the rest of my life. I am also a certified hypnotist, which might seem strange due to the stigma attached to it, but it's an interesting topic we will discuss later. I love talking about the mind, particularly the deeper layers that overlap with the spirit. I consider myself a healing guide rather than a healer, as I believe healing comes from within the individual.
Aside from these roles, I am a soul on its journey, a calm birth facilitator, and an instructor. I am passionate about shifting the paradigm of childbirth, empowering women to trust their bodies and have joyful, connected, and peaceful births. My own experiences with six home births, four of which were hypnobirths, were life-changing and faith-building moments.
I am also a hoop dancer. Yes, a hoop dancer, not to be mistaken with something else! This element of play and flow is essential in my life. As a former dancer, I need to move my body to access play and flow states, which translate into other aspects of my life. Accessing intuitive movement helps move energy with intention, impacting our lives profoundly.
I tend to look at things from a counterintuitive perspective. Life often presents circumstances wrapped in ugly packaging, but I see these as opportunities. By accepting and moving into these problems, we can find wisdom and gifts underneath. Softening into experiences rather than rejecting them helps us find the gold.
I've always been drawn to the mystical, which sparked my curiosity as a child. Stories of mystics and saints resonate deeply with me, and I believe they are more real than what we experience on the material plane. These stories inspire me to seek deeper parts of myself and transcend the human experience.
While I love discussing the mind and soul, we must also talk about the body. Our bodies are incredible vehicles for our minds and souls to operate in. Achieving balance in mind, body, and soul is essential for homeostasis. We must embrace our multifaceted nature to thrive.
Regardless of the words or terms I use, the underlying need for deeper connection and self-awareness is universal. Sometimes, spiritual concepts may be triggering, but they are part of our growth. We all have different experiences, but the desire for connection is the same. Meeting ourselves honestly where we are is crucial for growth and authenticity.
